MARCH IS EMBRACE AGING MONTH - EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES!

Embrace Aging Month was launched in March 2006 as an initiative of the Greater Victoria Eldercare Foundation aimed to inform and inspire through awareness and promotion. It combines a celebration to showcase our community's amazing older citizens and highlights the wealth of resources available year-round to help seniors and their families navigate the journey of aging. Embrace Aging is a tool to connect people to community and promote positive aging. Young and old alike will discover valuable resources and make important connections by simply exploring the possibilities - after all, we are all aging!

Now in its' fifth year, Embrace Aging Month 2010 will build on the success of past years by drawing attention to the importance of incorporating art, fitness, education, family, community and wellness as essential parts of a positive, healthy, older life. The four pillars upon which Embrace Aging Month is built are: Be Well; Be Secure; Be Connected; Be Enriched. The special events and workshops scheduled during March incorporate all four pillars. The 50+ Active Living Celebration on March 5th is a great way to be connected. This full day of activity and entertainment features exciting, interactive demonstrations and displays and is a great place to meet active, enthusiastic participants over the age of 50. Free workshops scheduled at the Yakimovich Wellness Centre and other community venues include topics to help you be well, be secure and be enriched.
