Masterminds: A Lecture Series by UVic Retirees

With the generous support of the University of Victoria, the UVic Retirees Association and the Centre on Aging will present a series of five, free lectures by UVic retirees from April 9 through May 7, 2008. The lectures will be held every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. on campus in the Hickman Building, Room 105. Please register by calling 472-4473 and plan to arrive early because seating will be limited. If you do not have a parking permit, there is a charge of $2.00 to park on campus.

Saanich Seniors Gardening Group
Join anytime and have an active role in maintaining an organic fruit and vegetable producing garden plot. Come to our information meeting scheduled March 26th, Cedar Hill Rec Ctrs. 10:30am to meet your gardening friends, our instructor, find out how the garden group works and see beautiful pictures from last year.

The garden plot is located at Capital City Allotment Gardens at 641 Kent Rd, just off Glanford at Carey Rd. The Garden Supervisor will be on duty twice a week to coordinate the planning and cultivating of the garden with the members. Members can attend with the coordinator, or can come on their own schedule and follow the garden schedule & outline left by the Supervisor. No registration fee required. Gentle Walk & Talk with Karen Reid
Enjoy fresh air, beautiful scenery, a friendly chat and some exercise as we explore many parks and trails throughout Saanich. Living Actively in Your Community: Taking Steps to Connect...Accessing Community Recreation
Ever wondered how recreation can fit into your life or feel nervous about going to a recreation centre? This 8 week step by step, interactive course will help you. Participants will be identifying their interests, discussing barriers and creating an action plan. Offered in partnership with VIHA's Hillside Seniors Health Centre.

Recreation Centre Tours
Interested in going to a recreation centre but unsure where to start? Let us show you around. A tour of recreation facilities can help you get acquainted with recreation in Saanich by showing you what to do, where to go, who to talk to and how to get started. Individual and Group tours of our recreation centres can be arranged by calling Steve at Saanich Community Services, 475-5409. We are currently looking for volunteers to help others participate.
